Regular Car Maintenance

Take care of your car and it will take care of you. Just like the majority of mechanical items, regular maintenance is needed to keep a car running smoothly and safely. If a vehicle is well cared for and regularly maintained, the car has a drastically lower risk of a mechanical failure resulting in a car accident.

By performing the following "spot checks" every month, you can keep your car in good working order:

Every Month - Oil level, hoses, belts, tire pressure, coolant, air filter
Every 3 Months - Oil change, oil filter, windshield washer fluid, brake fluid, transmission fluid, battery life, battery cables
Every 6 Months - Wiper blades, all exterior lights, horn, breaks, spare tire, exhaust system, shock absorbers

It is important to check the particular needs of a vehicle. A detailed checklist of regular car maintenance for most vehicles can be found online. A mechanic will also provide you with information on what services they performed and when they performed them, making it easier to stay on top of this important checklist.

Adhering to this maintenance list will have two major benefits. First, it will save money. People who do not change their oil frequently are being financially irresponsible. A fast, cheap oil change is much less expensive than having to purchase a new engine.

The second benefit is it may prevent an accident. Brakes should be checked every 3 months. If a person fails to do this, their brakes may unexpectedly stop working. Not only is this putting a driver at risk of injury, it also endangers the lives of all others around them. Financially, this may take a toll. The irresponsible car owner will have to pay their deductible. They will consequently see a rise in their insurance rates.

Ultimate Fighting audition

Whitman native Eric Magee, Marshfield native Eric Foley and Holbrook native Matt Johnson took the day off of work, packed into a car and drove to the Sheraton Hotel in Boston to take a stab at a one-of-a-kind audition last week. The Ultimate Fighting Championship in town to assess fighters for its popular Spike TV reality show "The Ultimate Fighter," a tournament-style show in its seventh season where 16 fighters from across the country room together and fight each other in pursuit of a contract with the UFC, the leading organization in the sport. "I have no idea how this is going to go to be honest with you," said Magee shortly after arriving at the hotel and being assigned a number. "I don't care. I'm just going to go in there and do my thing like I always do. I go in there, overpower guys, try to get on top, get good position and pound their face in for the win . . . I'll take any opportunity to try to get discovered. Do what I got to do." Contestants had the chance to grapple, kickbox and interview before UFC President Dana White and Spike TV producers. Hundreds of fighters turned out, and many went to great lengths to leave an impression. www.patriotledger.com

Taking Care of Your Petrol Or Diesel Turbo Car

Installing a turbo kit in your car will indeed add to its value but what good does it get if after a week of installing the kit, it breaks down? Turbochargers are there for the main reason that you want a faster and more efficient car. These turbo kits are costly and you do not want them to be breaking down on you, not because of factory defect, but because of personal neglect by the car's owner, also known as you.

There are ways and tips to follow in order to keep your turbo car in tip top shape. A healthy turbo has enough oil for lubrication and cooling. When thinking of a turbo car, oil is probably the most important factor that can affect the way your turbo operates. Regarding oil issues, you have to take note to use only synthetic oil for your engine. The reason for this is because these oils are undeniably better at withstanding thermal breakdown. Of course this is important as you already know that turbo engines have the tendency to operate at very high heat. Oil change for turbo cars must be done every 2500-3000 miles as oil breaks down and get dirty fast. Another important thing to do is to check the oil level often since the engine is exposed to a lot of strenuous conditions, pressure and excess heat. Also, you have to remember to let the oil cool down before turning off your car. You can do this by letting the car stay idle for a period of time. This is done to avoid damage to the turbo bearings and oil lines. Still in connection to the importance of oil, make sure that the turbo bearings are well lubricated before starting the engine especially after an oil change.

The tips mentioned above are the most common advice that are to be followed when maintaining a turbo car, but there are a lot of supplementary advice that can also be used to maximize the performance and lengthen the life of your turbo car. First, is to make sure that the wastegate signaling hose is not hardened or cracked. Another tip is to make sure that the throttle position sensor (TPS) is working properly. Cleaning the throttle body is also a way of maintaining your turbo car. It is advisable to clean the throttle body every 30,000 miles. To help maintain your turbo car, make sure that the tires do not go bald because it will have a deteriorating effect on the suspension. Especially that you have a high powered turbo car, you do not want to go through potholes and fall hard because of poor tires and suspensions. Changing the air filter every 10,000 miles will contribute to your car's maximum performance. The timing belt also has to be replaced every 40,000 miles for optimum turbo performance. More importantly is to make sure that your turbo system and your car stays cool and one way to do this is putting a switch in line with the air conditioning fan for you to use in bad traffic or in long drives.

There are a lot to consider when maintaining a turbo car, which is just right since a turbo car needs special attention as it is not like any ordinary car. A turbo car is engineered to excellence that is why maintenance is very important to preserve its performance.

Basic DIY Guide to Car Maintenance

Driving a car brings lots of convenience to the user, and beyond the selection and buying of a car, we also have to take care of the car and maintain it in good condition so that it will continue to serve us well for at least the next 5 to 10 years.

Today, I will be sharing with you the Basic DIY Guide to Car Maintenance and how you can also do it yourself and save the time and cost spent going to car mechanics!!

BASIC GUIDE TO DIY CAR MAINTENANCE

The first thing to do is to look under the car hood. It looks like a maze, isn't it? Essentially lying underneath that is the fuel system, ignition system, and the cooling system.

We are not going into details on how all these system works. Instead, we will look at how we can perform the simple weekly check on the car and what are the items to look out for when doing so.

DIY CAR MAINTENANCE - Items to look out for

1) Fluids

- Engine Oil fluids

- Coolant fluids

- Windshield fluids

- Washer fluids

- Brake fluids

- Power steering fluids

2) Car tire pressure

DIY CAR MAINTENANCE (1a) - Engine Oil Fluids

TIP: Always check the oil level when the engine has been turned off for an extended period to avoid hot oil from scalding yourself.

Purpose of Engine Oil fluids:

To lubricate the car engine parts and to prevent wear out.

Steps to follow:

1. Wipe the engine oil dipstick clean which is provided by the manufacturer

2. Insert the dipstick into engine, then pull up and check the level. If the top edge of the oil is above the ADD mark, the oil level is acceptable, else you need to add oil immediately. Typically amount required is one quart of oil.

3. To add oil, open the engine oil cap, place a funnel over the opening, and slowly pour the oil into it.

4. Wait for a few minutes and then recheck the oil level to ensure that the oil level is now within the "ADD" and "FULL" marks. Be careful not to add oil beyond the full mark as it will reduce the oil's lubrication qualities and prove less effective.

DIY CAR MAINTENANCE (1b) - Coolant Fluids

Purpose of Coolant Fluids:

Circulates throughout car engine to remove excess heat. Comprises of a mixture of antifreeze fluid and water, which collects the heat and and brings it to the radiator where air flow cools the liquid before returning back to cool the engine.

Steps to follow:

1) Ensure both engine and radiator are cooled down before checking coolant level.

2) Locate the radiator, and the corresponding coolant reserve tank which is holding the top layer of coolant from the radiator. Check and ensure that the coolant level is within the lowest and maximum levels.

3) When the need to top-up arises, turn the radiator cap counterclockwise by 1 quarter turn to release any built-up pressure remaining in the cooling system, before turning all the way to open the cap.

4) Add coolant as required until level is within the min and max marks.

5) Replace cap and do a basic clean up.

DIY CAR MAINTENANCE (1c) - Windshield Fluids

Purpose of Windshield fluids:

To clean the wind screen as required.

Steps to follow:

1) Locate the windshield washer fluid reservoir. It appears like a white plastic milk jug or jar and hold a small quantity of the windshield fluids.

2) In most cases, you can do a visual inspection of the fluid level, and as long as it is an inch or two below the top, it is considered full, and do not require topping up.

3) If it is too low, simply unscrew the cap and top it up with commercial windshield washer fluid or create your very own diy windshield fluid by adding few drops of dish washing detergent to water.

4) Replace cap and do a basic clean up.

DIY CAR MAINTENANCE (1d) - Brake Fluids

Purpose of brake fluids:

Supports the hydraulic systems which enable the brake systems to function properly.

Steps to follow:

1) Locate the master brake cylinder

2) Clean the top of the reservoir before removing the cover with a wrench

3) Check and ensure that the brake fluid is up to the "FULL" mark. Do not compromise as this is a critical factor in car safety.

4) Top up with the brake fluid through a funnel carefully until the level is about one quarter inch below the top.

Note:

Brake fluids have different grades, so it is advisable to check the owner manuals for specific requirements.

Don't let the brake fluid touch on the car paint, you will be in for a nasty surprise.

5) Replace and tighten the cap when done.

DIY CAR MAINTENANCE (1e) - Power Steering Fluids

Purpose of Power Steering Fluids:

Required for cars enabled with power steering capability, without which it is very difficult to turn the steering wheel.

Steps to follow:

1) Locate the power steering reservoir

2) Remove the cap of the reservoir and check the current fluid level.

TIP: Perform the check only when the engine is cool, else the readings will be inaccurate since the fluid expands when hot.

3) Top up the power steering fluid as specified in the car owner manuals, and be careful not to overfill it.

4) Replace and tighten the cap when done.

DIY CAR MAINTENANCE (2) - Car Tyre Pressure Check

Purpose of Tire Pressure Check:

Regular pressure checks will help to maximize the lifespan of the tires since the wrong pressures can cause over contact with the roads reducing the lifespan, or under contact with the road causing safety issues. Under-inflated tires will also reduce fuel economy resulting in higher costs unknowingly.

Steps to follow:

1) Find out the recommended tire pressures required from the car manuals, measured in psi.

2) For ease of checking, go to any gas station, and insert their tire pressure gauge into your car tire valve stem. Push it until you hear a rush of air, and then release it. Observe the pressure reading immediately on the tire gauge machine.

3) If air pressure is not enough, add air with the air line, and double check pressure when done. If air pressure is too high, release a bit of air with the tire gauge and double check before releasing more air.

4) Replace the valve stem cap when done.

5) Repeat for all tires.

TIP: It is good to also perform a quick check on the tire for any wear and tear and replace early for better car safety.

Conclusion

To summarize, through better understanding on the essential items to look out for during your routine car maintenance, and steps to follow during maintenance, you are now able to keep your car in tiptop performance at all times, and maximize the enjoyment of the car rides for yourself and your family.

Lengthening Your Vehicle's Life Span

If you own a per-owned vehicles you want to do what you can to lengthen its lifespan. If you're planning on eventually reselling it you should take special care to keep the interior and exterior in good condition.

Aside from thinking about the potential for resale, it's good to keep your car in good condition for your own enjoyment. Here's some more information about keeping your car looking its best.

The first rule is to handle your car with care. Always use touchless car washes if possible. Avoid using automatic car washes with brushes. The brushes can be hard on your paint finish. Wash it yourself if you can and use clean sponges that are free from debris. Be sure to keep your car free from scratches. Scratches will ruin your paint job and make your care look shabby. Another good idea is to store your vehicle under cover. It will protect its exterior. A garage or car port is best. If you regularly park your car outdoors it will be exposed to the elements and face damage from the sun, hail and snow. Do your best to keep your car waxed. A good coat of wax will help possible contaminants to slide right off the finish. It makes it hard for bugs, reside and dirt to adhere to your finish. It will also make your car better protected against sun damage.

If you can afford it, get your car detailed periodically. Treat your car with care. Some people recommend getting a car detailed once every few months with special attention paid to leather dashboards, seats, carpeting and other special features. Whether new or used, your car is your ride and represents you. Take good care of it inside and out and you won't regret it. It will look better and last long the more attention you give it.

Car Maintenance Schedule - Get Rid of Car Payments For Good With This Car Maintenance Checklist

If you want to keep your current vehicle running in good shape for a long time, you need to read and follow the following three tips.

Get familiar with your car's recommended/required maintenance and upkeep.
Never ever skip or scrimp on your car maintenance.
Remember, maintaining your car is a lot cheaper than buying a new one
Second to owning a home, owning a vehicle is one of our most costly living expenses. Almost all of us are trying to keep our costs of living down, and especially in today's economic climate, keeping your current vehicle running in good shape makes good economic sense. Remember, car payments are not a necessity! Keep your current car running and you'll save a lot of money because maintaining your current car is a lot cheaper than buying a new one. And, following a good car maintenance schedule will definitely help your vehicle last as long as possible.

Most cars would last a lot longer if people would just maintain them, and good car care is not that hard. It may take some initial work and money to get your car maintenance on track, but remember, it's a lot more expensive to replace a blown motor, or having your car nickel and dime you to death because of lack of maintenance.

Following a car maintenance checklist is always cheaper than buying a new car! So, let's look at a sample of a typical car maintenance schedule.

Change your oil as a rule every three months, or three thousand miles, whichever comes first.

Rotate and balance tires along with a battery check every 7,500 miles or 6 months.

Now, in addition to the ongoing maintenance listed above, you're going to need to maintenance the following filters once a year, or every 15,000 miles:

Transmission, Air, Fuel, and Carbon canister filter. You should also look into having the transmission flushed and the PCV and breather element replaced. Finish up with servicing the brakes and checking your battery and your yearly maintenance will be complete.

For every two years, or thirty thousand miles you'll need to add having the coolant and brake fluids flushed out and replaced, change the distributor cap, wires, and rotor, change spark plugs, and change the differential or transfer case fluid in addition to the yearly list:

Finally, for long term maintenance, you'll need to add the following maintenance activities every five years, or sixty thousand miles in addition to the regular, yearly, and every two year maintenance duties: flush and replace power steering and change timing belt.

Perform this car maintenance schedule regularly and you're sure to keep your car running in tip-top shape.

Natural Healing - Anxiety - When You Care Too Much

If you've ever experienced anxiety, perhaps you can to relate to the place a reader was coming from recently when she asked me this question. "When I looked up anxiety in the dictionary, they said it was a synonym for care. What's going on with that?"

When you care for someone, isn't that supposed to be a good thing? And isn't anxiety, most of the time, rather undesirable? So what's the deal anyway?

Perhaps you're familiar with Dr. Edward Bach, who developed the Bach Flower Essences back in the 1930's. Dr. Bach was known as a "sensitive." He had the ability to feel energy. One of the first things he noticed, upon becoming a doctor, was that a lot of his patients with similar illnesses also had similar personalities. This was a big clue!

Dr. Bach began to reason that if he could help his patients correct the natural imbalances in their personalities, perhaps their health would improve. He was one of the real pioneers in the field we know today as energy medicine.

Each of us, as living beings, has our own set of unique vibrations. Dr. Bach was able to perceive differences in the vibrations of people with particular energy imbalances. In addition, he was also able to perceive vibrations of the "opposing virtue" in plants. His form of practice was to bring together each major type of personality or energy imbalance and the vibration of its opposing virtue, thus bringing the person back to balance and health.

Bach Flower Essences and Anxiety

One of the real geniuses of the Bach Flower Essences is their arrangement into categories. Understanding the origin of a particular undesired feeling can go a long way toward correcting it, and Dr. Bach really shines in this department. There are two main categories with remedies to help resolve the imbalances of anxiety.

First is in the area of "Overcare for others' welfare." Individual remedies aside, the category itself tells us a lot. When a person cares too much, imbalance occurs. Of the remedies in this category, the indications for use range from...

perfectionistic in their expectations for others (they are just trying to help the loved one avoid embarrassing mistakes) to
over-zealous (they've found this great gadget and you've just gotta have one) to

bossy (they're gonna make you do it if it kills them ... and you) to
easily offended, possessive, and clingy (they just wanna be loved and they give too much, hoping you will give even more back) to
perfectionistic in their expectations for themselves (they think they're being "very good;" in reality, they're self-centered and way too hard on themselves).

While it may be difficult for a person to see the self in the short indications as they're listed, placing them in the context of overcare for others softens the blow a little. Dr. Bach was gentle and compassionate in addition to being quite insightful.

The remedies themselves all represent a positive vibration. Chickory, the remedy that fits an anxiety profile best and fourth on our list above, is indicated for people who may feel great inner loneliness; lacking in self-love and real purpose. It supports developing a secure base of abundance and selflessness, and the quality of maternal and fraternal selfless love. Doesn't that feel better? Can you get that selfless love just might be an antidote for anxiety? Pretty good, isn't he?

The truth is, though, that any of the remedies listed under this category could be effective as an antidote for anxiety, depending upon its cause in the individual.

The second area that bears upon a person with anxiety is "Oversensitivity to the influences and ideas of others." Like the "Overcare" category, any of the remedies in this group could easily fit for a person experiencing anxiety. The clearest match, though, is the remedy Centaury.

The indication for use of Centaury describes a person who consistently places the needs of others ahead of their own, not out of true choice, but because they want to please. This makes the person easy to manipulate and exploit, and they often run amok in their own lives as a result.

After all, we are each born with a native instinct for self-preservation. When the compulsion to please others exceeds a person's self-preservation instinct, wouldn't that be a pretty clear cause for anxiety? It's an impossible dilemma! Centaury brings to the table the qualities of discrimination, self-realization, willpower, and strength. All of which does sound preferable!

Anxiety and care ... quite literally

There is, of course, another use of the word "care" in the dictionary. As an example, a person might say that they "care" about keeping their job. Naturally, if they care a lot about keeping their job, the person could become anxious. Personally, I tend to think that this is an example of overcare (or possibly fear, a further category of the Bach Essences), which throws us right back into Dr. Bach's remedies. But I certainly hold space for other opinions.

The bottom line is that balance rules the day. If you'd like to learn more about Dr. Bach, his little book Heal Thyself is a quick and easy read.

Automotive Detailing; Cragar Car Care Products

We have been trying out Cragar car care detail products for our team. We have looked at the Premium FX Series. We tried the Speed Brite - Total Wheel Cleaner and the Tire Black on an NASCAR Truck and Trailer, both worked out fine and they kept up with other similar retail off the shelf products and could be considered very good second tier products for professional detailers and first tier for off the shelf automotive cleaning and detailing products for Do It Yourself car owners.

The Speed Brite total wheel cleaner worked as good as Auto Magic Brand’s EZ White whitewall cleaner on the alloy and chrome wheels, but we do not recommend it for polished aluminum Alcoa or specialty rims or on Plastic Coated wheel logo caps or wheels. By the way all these products can be further reviewed at

Cragar Spray Gloss Super Shine sounds fancy and can hold it’s own against the Meguiars brand they sell at Wal-Mart, but did not do as good against the Boat and Marine Spray Wax from Meguiars Marine Catalog. We used some on the hood of the Blitzmobile;

http://www.carwashguys.com/blitz.html

as well as on the hood of a passer bye who wondered who are those guys and what are they doing in that parking lot at the CES Show between seminars? We believe in Cragar’s motto for their Premium FX Series Products and that is “Superior Engineering Superior Results” and so we put their newest product the Brake Dust Barrier – Wheel Surface Protectant to work. The product worked great but we did not see the need for two products and we prefer one to do both jobs, for instance able to get into the spider web style BMW rims like on the 2002 BMW or the 3.18 BMW and remove and neutralize and clean off brake dust. Also using a pressure washer the product is not necessary for our team as the current products we use are fine. But the stuff did work well. We enjoyed it as we are moving away completely from any kind of acid to clean rims, for environmental reasons of the EPA and NPDES Permitting, but also due to possible lawsuits from workers and OSHA Standards mandated by some bureaucracy chief somewhere under some rock?

We really enjoyed the Rain Repel – Glass Treatment and found it to be nearly as good as a Hydrophobic window treatment or a coat of Rain-X although it lasted almost as long as Rain-X it is also half the price.

I hope you have enjoyed this weeks Retail Product test and Automotive Detailing Product Review for Cragar Premium FX Series Car Care Products, because it is expensive for us to go buy this stuff off the shelf at retail to bring this data to our Do It Yourself clientele.

Why Car Maintenance is Important

Car maintenance is usually not one of our favourite activities in life. Most of the time, when using our vehicles, we take for granted that they are in a proper driving condition and sometimes can forget the importance of keeping them well maintained. Vehicles require general and routine maintenance over time and emergency repairs may be needed if you have an accident or if something goes wrong when you're driving. General car maintenance can help to prevent the latter by ensuring that your car is in optimal driving condition at all times. A well maintained car may also mean you're less likely to claim on your car insurance, potentially resulting in lower premiums over time.

Among the general car maintenance tips, getting regular oil changes at the appropriate period of time or usage is at the top of the list of importance. Many people forget when the time comes to get an oil change. Regular oil changes can help ensure that your car runs efficiently and that your engine is well maintained. Old oil or not enough oil in your vehicle can lead to overheating of the engine or other major engine and motor problems that can be expensive to fix. It can also affect air flow and other operational areas that make your driving experience pleasant and safe.

Tyres

Even people that do remember to get regular oil changes might forget to periodically rotate tyres. It's a good idea to rotate your tyres consistently. Most car care experts suggest you get a complete tyre rotation at least once every couple times that you change your oil. Tyre rotations can help you prevent your tyres from developing uneven wearing of the treads which can cause your car to lean in one direction or another. Your tyres are the foundation of your car's base and its connection to the road, so worn or improperly maintained tyres could be a big safety problem.

Another often neglected and very simple car maintenance tip is checking and filling the air in your tyres. Tyre pressure goes down over time just from natural use, but it can go down more quickly if there's a leak or deficiency. It's important to have the right amount of pressure and to have an even amount of pressure in your tyres. Having too low pressure wears on your tyre as it's stuck between the road and the rims of your car. This can lead to expedited wear and ruining of the tread. Having your car tyres overfilled (not using a gauge to fill) with air can cause dangerous blowouts that could prove fatal.

Tune ups

Regular tune ups and check ups also help ensure that you're not caught off guard with a dangerous car problem and a major expense. Still, even with all of the proper care measures that we have talked about, you are still at risk of a potential issue or accident every time you get behind the wheel. This is why having adequate car insurance is so important. Whether it's protecting your car's value or the health of you and others (liability insurance), you need to be protected before you drive.

Remember these car maintenance tips:

Get oil changes.
Look after your tyres.
Get check ups and tune ups.
Adequate car insurance.

Car Cover Prices

There are many factors that go into figuring out the price of car covers. However, regardless of the price of the product, it would cost far less to buy a car cover rather than paying for a new paint job.

Factors that determine the cost:

Factor that will determine how much a car cover will cost is how heavy and durable the material is. The heavy duty materials will generally cost you more money than the light ones. However, they will protect your car better, as well as have a longer life span than the less expensive products.

Another major factor that can determine the price of a car cover is the fit of the cover on the car. The typical car cover will not be as expensive as those which are custom made to fit your particular vehicle.

Cost:

The least expensive car cover will cost you less than $50. This type of product will be the very basic polyester-cotton blend, which is very lightweight. Even though this will provide you adequate protection, it is not as durable as the ones that are heavy-duty.

The heavier polyester-cotton blend materials are the ones that most car enthusiasts prefer to use. They are soft, yet provide superior protection and have a much longer lifespan than the inexpensive products. The ready-fit covers of this brand will generally cost you a little over $100, with the custom made products costing $150 to $200.

The most expensive types of car covers are the ones made of heavy duty acrylic. This material is exceptionally strong, as well as longer lasting, and gives your car superior protection from sun damage. The ready fit products made from this material can cost as much as $200, with the custom fit products costing over $250.

How To Take Care Of Your Horse

Horses are one of the most exciting pets to own and they make excellent companions. In fact, they are almost like people with their own personalities. However, taking care of your horse is a big responsibility and your horse must be cared for properly to keep it healthy and happy. To provide the appropriate level of care for your horse, you can imagine it as being a child of about 4 years old as this is about their level of mentality.

The first thing that you will need for your horse is a home. This may be a stable or a paddock. If you do not have somewhere large enough for your horse to live at your house, you may want to consider agistment or a place that rents out stables or land for horses to live. You will need to keep your horse's home clean by removing his droppings daily for stables and weekly for pasture.

There are also many daily responsibilities that you will have as an owner. The first is feeding your horse. If you have it in a stable, you will need to feed it grains and chaff, as well as hay and make the stable comfortable for it by providing sawdust or hay for bedding. Horses also need large amounts of fresh clean drinking water. You will need to check the water you provide for your horse regularly during the day to make sure it has plenty and has not tipped it over or drank it all.

Horses also need to have regular exercise and plenty of love and attention. Make the time with your horse enjoyable by giving it a good brushing before and after you ride it. Offer affection and yummy treats such as apples or sugar cubes to encourage it to think of you as his friend. By making friends with your horse, it will try even harder to please you.

Do not forget to clean under your horses feet with a hoof pick daily, as well as before and after you ride it to make sure that it has not picked up a rock in his hoof as this will make it lame. You will also need to have his hooves trimmed by a farrier every 8 weeks to keep its feet from getting cracked, sore or overgrown.

Your horse will need to be wormed regularly and just like people horses need to have regular checkups from a vet, even if they are not sick, to make sure that they are healthy. If you have any concerns about your horse or what to feed it or how often, your vet will also be able to help you.

During winter, you may need to provide a rug for your horse, especially if the winter months are particularly cold. Horses that are in stables will also need to have rugs for the night as they can not move around to keep warm.

As you have read, one of the most important things that you will need is time. The time needed to take care of your horse properly and train it to do the things that you want it to do. When you are able to be patient and gentle with your horse, it will be the best friend that you ever had.

Knowing the kind of a Crack
Car windows are really superb. They are helpful in seeing ahead without the wind mussing your hair. They also keep the rain and snow from getting in the car. So the question is what one can do if the car window is leaked or cracked. They can be easily repaired by using products that can be bought auto parts dealers and even many super stores. Depending on what is being intended to be done, there also might be a need for one or two glass suction cups for lifting and positioning larger glass pieces.

For repairing a car window with simple tools, these simple steps can be followed:

1. First, the damage to the window has to be identified. In case it's a small crack or chip, it can be repaired by using an automotive window repair kit. It is possible then the damage can be checked over a few days to know if it's even or if it's spreading. In case its spreading, then the repair kit might not be able to help in stopping the spread. A new glass would be required.

2. For repairing the glass, the instructions on the package of different window repair kits should be read. Some are for chips, some for cracks while others are for both. Look for the one that seems best to solve the problem. The manufacturer's instructions can be followed. Some kits require the removal of rough corners from the chip, installing the retaining cup and then installing the filler into the chip. In case of glass scratches, a glass abrasive and cleaner can be applied, it is available from bigger auto retailers or glass shops.

3. For replacing the glass, it has to be figured first how it will be taken out. Even though it is shattered into countless pieces, the glass would have to be removed from the edges before installing a new one. For a door glass, the door panel has to be removed to access the mechanism that moves the window up and down. The glass is attached below. The front and rear window glass requires the trim and the rubber gasket to be removed. The rubber gasket has to be replaced with a new one as the new one is installed. The car manual will be of help for removing and replacing the glass.

4. For repairing a leaking window gasket, pour water on it for identifying how it is getting it. If it is penetrating through the gasket, a putty knife can be used to lift the gasket away from the glass and a little window sealer can be applied. The excess can be cleaned and dried and then retest and repeat as required.

Sagging Doors gives an Old Look to the Car
Few things are more frustrating than standing by the car door in rain and banging it close tightly.

For adjusting doors using the car care toolbox, follow the simple steps below:

1. Look for the door sag. Open the door and close it slowly just stopping as it is about to touch the latch. In case the door is too high or too low for the opening then lift the door from the bottom below the handle. In case the door moves too much before it moves, then open the door completely and check the hinges for loose bolts or noticeable movement in hinges. For moving the door up, down, forward and backward, the hinge bolts on the body has to be slightly loosen, the door has to be moved to the correct position and then the bolts have to be tightened. For moving the door in and out, the hinge bolts on the door has to be slightly loosened, the door has to be moved to the correct position and then the bolts have to be tightened.

2. Once the door the correctly aligned, the door latching has to be checked. The door has to be carefully closed to see how it catches. Either the latch or striker bolt on the door can be adjusted. By opening and closing the door carefully few times, it can be estimated how much adjustment is needed. For guidance, the relative positions of the latch and striker on the opposite door can be checked. Once the door is adjusted, small changes can be done in the alignment by adjusting the screws at the bottom and top but not both of them at the same time. Once the door latches well, the screws can be tightened well so that the latch stays in alignment.

3. The rubber seal around the door can be inspected for presence of cracks

Un-Denting Unavoidable Dents
Here is what one can do to remove body dents. Some specialized body tools might be needed for the following job. Follow these steps:

Look closely to observe the nature of the scratch, in case of deep damage, some metals might have to be moved.

Tools for body repair can be bought form an auto retailer. They can be slide, pick and bumping hammers, and a variety of dolleys.

To hammer a dent, hold the dolley on the back side of the dent and bang on the front side with hammer.

For pulling out a dent, a hole has to be drilled, screw the slide hammer into the hole and move the handle back and forth for pulling it out.

For filling holes and finishing the repairing dent, a grinder or file can be used for removing the paint from that part and then filler can be used to shape. Filler can be of plastic or lead, the brand name of a popular plastic filler product is called Banda.

Permanent Makeup
Once everything is done, you can choose your desired color to give your car a good makeup. Sprays and paint cans can be used for this purpose, they can be easily bought from the market and easily used on the car.

Cichlid Fish Care

The cichlid fish has a very colorful appearance which makes them one of the most popular fish to own. Their care is not that difficult but they do have requirements that must be adhered to in order for them to be healthy.

Most cichlids come from Africa, but they are also found in Central and South America. They are found in many different kinds of waters, such as rivers, lakes and ponds. There are many different cichlid species and many different color variations.

In your cichlid tank, you must provide places for them to hide, such as large pieces of driftwood or rock caves. If you have a large species of cichlids, it is best not to put plants in their aquarium because they tend to dig up substrate materials. Other species, like the angelfish and discus prefer a planted tank.

Most cichlids like to be in water temperatures in the mid seventies. The Discus species prefers slightly higher temperatures. The staple food of your cichlid's diet should be a large flake food, but you should also feed many different types of live and frozen foods. It's good to have variety in their diet. If you have a large cichlid, it can even be fed earthworms and crickets.

Cichlids are very territorial which makes them aggressive. You must watch out for this aggression. If you have a mating pair, the male will usually drive away the female after mating. There needs to be somewhere for her to hide or else she can be killed. Because they are so aggressive, you should only keep them with other large fish that can stand up against them.

If you carefully select the fish, cichlids can be kept in a community tank. Dwarf cichlids work extremely well for this. They can be kept together pretty easily with schooling fish like Characins. If you keep cichlids in a tank together just make sure there is enough room for them to claim their own territory.

Large cichlids should only be kept with fish of the same size and temperament as themselves. Do not keep any large cichlid with a small fish because they will probably make them a meal.

If you decide to breed cichlids, you need to realize that there are two different types of breeders. Substrate brooders lay eggs out in the open on a surface or hidden in a cavity. They will fan the eggs to increase oxygen supply and after they hatch, the fish will look after the young until they are eating on their own and free swimming. After that, the parents will still protect the young against predators. The parents will be extremely aggressive during this time.

The other type of breeder is called a mouthbrooder. They put the eggs and larvae in their mouths. They keep them in their mouths until the young are free swimming. Most mouthbrooders stop looking after the young once they are free swimming, but others do continue to care for them by letting them go back into their mouths when there is danger.

Cichlids are really fun fish to own. There are so many different kinds of cichlids and some of the colors are truly stunning. Before you get cichlids, just try to do as much research about them as you can.
